Accurate Description of Item
Hand carved Chinese teakwood furniture
Appraiser Remarks
Heavily carved furniture like this has been produced in China and South East Asia for the Export market since the turn of the 19th century. The earlier pieces tended to be carved out of much darker Chinese hardwoods such as "Hongmu", the later examples out of lighter colored Asian Hardwoods, such as Camphor and Teak. Sets like yours tend to date from the second quarter of the 20th century ( 1925-50), most being sold by companies in Hong Kong, but without any markings it's impossible to determine a retailer or maker.
Estimated Value
