Long Description
This statue is quite heavy around 3kg and 15in tall, i would say possibly brass but unsure. This was inherited and was among some other items in the attic. We suspect it was bought by my uncle possilby when on his travels over 40yrs ago but no one has seen them and he has lived in the same house all his life so could of been there any amount of time as he was 72 when passed away.
The base has a flat back so i presume they were made to go on a mantle but again unsure  of this. we as a family would just like to know if anyone could tell us anything about where it may of come from etc.Â
thank you everyone for your helpÂ

I have seen something like this on Pawn Stars and they said it's a god or goddess from the Orient and it could be bronze. If it were mine I would have it appraised, it could be worth something.

I looked up this statue on www.asiasocietymuseum.org. There is a background on how the Chola Period era came to power in the late 9th century. Hope that would be a great start in your research to this magnificent piece you have. I also typed in Google - bronze antiques from india. You could compare your statue to the images that it has on there.Â
