Your tea set is patterned after Japanese Damascene metal ware, which had a black iron backgound with inlaid gold designs, often depicting fishing villages and pagodas. The design of the Giesha Girl's face in the bottom is what's called a lithophane face, Lithophane sets like this tend to post date World War Two, but were also produced during the 1920's.
