Long Description
My mother found this in an abandoned farmhouse in upstate New York in the early 1970's. It's lacquer over wood with pictures of Victorian women on it. It's rather large, 19" high, 16" wide, and 10" deep. It's lined with pink satin, has a drawer at the bottom, 2 doors with mirrors that open out, 1 door with a mirror at the top that opens up containing what looks like a manicure kit. There's a silver "ring" of some kind with "E 1899" engraved on it and a necklace with "E. D. Macauley 1893" on it. It is peeling in spots but I do have some of the pieces of lacquer that peeled off.

Re: Antique Victorian Jewelry Box
The laquer is actually celluloid. Google about Victorian celluloid boxes. I own a few myself. They're all unique. This is a really nice piece but very damaged. It would be circa 1880s/1890s. They vary in value, but being very ruined, it would probably go for $40- (maybe) $60 or so.
This one is similar, a lot less damaged though. Overpriced in my opinion.Â

The jewelry doesn't look old at all in the picture, but it's hard to tell. If possible send more photos, clearer and closer up. It's pretty neat to find items like that along with Victorian items.
I do a lot of genealogy so I went off on a tangent and did searches on E. D. Macauley. Due to lack of information, I couldn't find anything. I had 2500 results coming up for census reports and whatnot. I could further the name to a friend of mine who also deals in genealogy, if you're interested, I might be able to try to  figure it out along with her. Let me  know.
