Re: Vintage Stereo with 8 track
these were made in the early 1970's. your 8-track player probably works. these consoles were favored by the generation that grew up on big radios. They were used to all-in-one devices, and when these big consoles came out in the early 1970's the 50 somethings grabbed them up.Â
Today they take up too much room and though you could probably place them beneath a flat-screen wall television, you'd still wouldn't get the full effect of today's High-Definition Seven Channel sound. Why? These old monstrosities only had TWO channels - that's right, they were only two channel stereos - the cutting edge technology of the 1970's.Â
However, they did have it all - turntable, AM/FM Radio, and an 8-Track player, all built into a nice piece of furniture. So if you're into that, by all means buy one of these monsters.Â
But know that beginning with the Baby-boomers, my group, we were more into stereo components. We had separate components for each part of our system. That way we would always expand, as well as upgrade, whenever we wanted to do so - and that's what we did.Â
Â
Good luck in selling it - i'm sure you'll find someone who'll take this off your hands. As for current value, it's really not worth much - if you get $50 bucks you'll be doing very, very well. But if you want to move it fast - put on an asking price closer to $25 and be done with it.Â
Ken (who's been trying to get his Mom to get rid of her's for ages).

Yes these are from the 70's. I have the same one. Only paid $10 for it and it came with original papers.
