This dresser has been used for many years in my family (at least 3 generations), been moved several times, so it has the expected wear & tear that goes with that. It's not a "fine" or fancy piece to begin with, so the bumps and bruises give it a rather authentic stressed patina that goes with the type of piece it is in the first place. The drawers all work as expected, though with this old piece it's just wood on wood (no fancy slides, etc). Has that nice "old furniture" smell to it too. The hardware is definitely not original, as holes on inside of drawer don't line up with screws on pulls. Looks like it had different pulls at one time and the external holes were filled as part of a refinish somewhere along the line. Made of wide-grained hardwood for sure, but doesn't seem like oak. Maybe walnut?
