These tend to postdate the 1950's and were generally brought back as gifts by troops stationed in Japan after World War Two. They usually came in a wood and glass display box, any information would have been in the form of a label on the display box. These were made in large numbers, so values for them tend to be modest. It's rare we see one go at auction for over $75.00 these days.
