I believe the vase is Japanese and hand painted due to its appearance and the fact that you can actually feel the paint and the design on the vase itself. I also believe it is porcelain because when you put a bright light in the vase and cover the top with your hand you can see light shine through it, especially on the bottom where there is no paint. It has the word NIPPON stamped on the bottom but there is no other mark to be seen. I do not know much more about the vase except that it is a very beautiful piece. It is in Excelent condition on the outside however it has a few marks on the inside of vase. It looks like it was used quite a lot and may have had a few scratches on it from things that were put in and taken out of the vase.Â
