Long Description
I aquired from a free table at a garage sale recently a stone wear jar that I bleive is glass glazed. It is marked: "Hiawatha Tobacco Worx, Detroit Mich". I can find no other markings on it. The only thing I have been able to learn searching on-line is that the Hiawatha Tobacco Worx company with developed in Detroit during the middle 1800s by a gentleman named Daniel Scotten. I have not been able to find out anything about when it may have been made, or by whom. Since I got it for free, I asume it is worth more than I paid for regardless. I would appreciate any information anyone may be able to provide regarding this item.Â
Thank you

Thank you for any information you can provide.
Re: Hiawatha Tobacco Jar
Hi,
Let me start off by saying its a great piece as far as I'm concerned.
Now...
I don't think its "Worx" Â It looks like the stamp didn't completely take when it was made and you are reading an "X" from the crazing in the glaze.
The other point to note is that you don't have a lid.
However, Hiawatha Tobacco is a real thing and you have something no one else seems to have.
As far as the value of it, I can't find anything. Â But you can spend a few bucks to find out what people think its worth with a little trick I've used.
eBay charges a nominal fee for reserved price auctions. Â List your item (with a very detailed description and plenty of photos) and set a reserve of $500. Â If it goes over that you will sell it. Â If it doesn't, then you have an idea of the interest.
That's the best I can do for you.
I hope it helped.
