I bought this footboard through a free local website for $75 plus $15 to have it delivered to me by the seller. It was originally listed as an antique headboard however found out it's actually a footboard and not an antique. When I sent the pictures to two antique dealers to ask about painting it, was told two different things. One said it wasn't vintage and was a reproduction. The other said it is possibly vintage reproduction, perhaps dating to around 50 to 60 years old. It's very heavy so I know it's not made from aluminum and believe it to be cast iron. The width across is 53" so it's full/double size. The height is 45" at the tallest point. It can be attached at the bottom with bolts to a bed frame. There is beautiful scroll work and a brass detail in the center. The color is off white or ivory and some of the paint has been chipped and didn't see any rust. The seller offered to refund my money as she had used it as a headboard herself, didn't know that it's really a footboard and not an antique (she paid three time what I paid for it). I would love to find out who the manufacturer may be, the approximate age, the value and if possible a matching headboard. I plan to keep it and someday if I'm lucky find a headboard that would match. After researching antiques I realize that authentic antique cast iron beds are very expensive. I appreciate any feedback and thank you in advance.
