Long Description
I grew up around this table and just got it back from my sister. I think my parents bought it in the 40's, but unsure. I is made from mahogany and is very heavy. Has three inserts...two are 12" and one is 13". It is stamped made by The Jefferson Woodworking Company and has their slide system. The unique thing about this one vrs. others I've seen is this one is a slide system without the metal slide and gears...the slide is 100% made from wood. I've attached some pics. I'm sure it's made from solid wood, but it appears to be showing signs of a veneer on the top, but I'm unsure. I'm giving it to my daughter for a wedding present, but would like to know it's approximate age and value.

Re: Dropleaf Table by The Jefferson Woodworking Company
Tables of this type are in what's called the "Federal Revival" style. Federal Revival pieces are reproductions of the original American Federal furniture originally produced from 1780-1820, based on English pieces designed by George Hepplewhite and Thomas Sheraton.
The Federal Revival style became popular after the first Centennial of the American Revolution in 1876. At that time interest and demand for original Colonial & Federal furnishings was so great it outstripped supply. This caused large manufacturers to begin production of pieces in the Colonial and Federal styles from the Jacobean to Duncan Phyfe.
The style reached it's peak of popularity during the mid 1920's, but pieces of this type remained in production through the early 1940's. Values for them are generally under $350.00 at auction.
