Antique majolica-like cabbage leaf Style Black Plate I inherited from my late brother. He bought the black plate at an estate auction in 1998.  The auction was in Mountain Brook Alabama. This pattern appears to be a Majolica Cabbage Leaf.  However, this pattern was done by Sarreguemines only with green and white plates.  The black deco plate is 8 1/4" inches in diameter.  Its weighs 20 ounces.  There is a very tiny dot etched signature on the back of plate.  It's so tiny that it looks like a scratch mark. Very difficult to get a good picture. I have taken pictures of the hallmark.  See attached pictures. The name appears to be in french or italian.  I noticed that the last name has a (d') in front of it.  I am assuming that perhaps the name on plate is french. The condition of the black plate is excellent.  There are no chips or cracks.  The material of plate appear to be a metal base.  However, I am not 100% sure on this one.  I noticed where the maker dot etched his signature there appears to be a shiny base underneath the dots.  I think  Identifying hallmark signature will help get history on plate.Â

I think it could be a metal base because I can see shiny surface underneath the maker's dot etched signature on back of plate. I am not sure.
Distinguishing marks
There is a very tiny hallmark or signature on the back of plate. The maker signed his name using a dot etched signature which makes it difficult to read and take pictures of it.
