Outside is covered in a thin (tin) metal, and the inside is wood. Not sure what kind.
Distinguishing marks
Stamped into the metal on the outside along the decorative emblems is the year 1880. Other than that, the lock has the words Yale & Towne printed on it. I have found out they made lock mechanisms for several companies.

Long Description
I have an old trunk that has the year 1880 stamped on it, and the lock mechanism says Yale & Towne. The outside is covered in a thin metal, such as tin, and its wooden underneath and inside. It has a removable wooden tray on the inside. The trunk measures 22 1/2 inches tall, 33 3/4 inches long, and 19 1/2 inches wide. It had leather handles on each end that has dry rotted and came off over the years. I would love to know any history or value on this piece
History
Inherited from a deceased family member who had the trunk for the past 70 years. It was a gift from her mother who passed away in the 1940's. I don't know anything before that.
