Re: 6 gallon two tone crock with a blue heart
Thanks to anyone that can help me identify this crock.
Re: 6 gallon two tone crock with a blue heart
It's a factory made example and could date as late as the 1920's, they were most often used to make sauerkraut, I've seen these sell for about $60.00 at auction.
Re: 6 gallon two tone crock with a blue heart
Thank you for the info. Would you know what factory brand? Red Wing, Western, etc.?? My dad,Ā who is 83, said they used to make sauerkraut it crocks like the oneĀ I haveĀ when he was growing up. So, sounds like you are on the money with that. I paid $48 for this crock. Ā
Re: 6 gallon two tone crock with a blue heart
I know the manufacturer ofĀ my crock now. It is aĀ Heart Brand Stoneware high butter jarĀ produced by Burley &Ā Winter Pottery CompanyĀ of Crooksville, Ohio. That company was founded in 1872 and ceased production in 1932; its assets were liquidated in 1937. My dad was born in 1932 and he is 83 years old, so this crock is at least 83 years old now! I bought this crock in Sugarcreek, Ohio which is 80 miles northĀ of Crooksville where it was made.
