Long Description
The sink is mostly intact, the drain area or "p trap" are worn or show signs of use. The Neuvogue fixtures display the streamline look of the late 1930s. The rectangular sinkĀ top was perched on a china pedestal, or a sleek tubular chrome plated stand."Neuvogue" sinks featured a wide waterfall shaped integral china spout set on top of theĀ flat sink top, with ovoid lever handles mounted on the sides of the spout. The basin was aĀ distinctive half round shape. These rare sinks are for serious collectors that want a top of the line antique fixture worth it's value in looks and a name that stood on it's own for more than 150 years.
History
Henry Dreyfuss, (1904-1972) was commissioned by the Crane Plumbing Co to design a line of bath fixtures and fittings that was called Neuvogue, and made its debut in 1936.The sink is a large 27" x 22" size with a unique 1/2 round shaped bowl that leaves lots of space in the back corners to set toiletries. The raised china waterfall hood behind the basin contains the spout and valves are all in one place for ease of use. The handles on the sink, as well as all handles in the Neuvogue line were sleek lever and ovoid shapes and all chrome plated, called "Futura". The sink rested on a pedestal, metal tubular, or flat metal bar stand with towel racks on both sides. I think the flat bar style stands were some of the first to come off the line around 1936. This particular sink came from a house my family bought in 1985 that had been vacant for 20 years prior. Since then the sink hadn't been used because of drain issues we discovered when we bought the place. Just pulled this sink last year before looking it up and finding that it is unique and rare. BTW: The two yellow outlined photos are for illustration purposes and the 3rd pic is the actual sink.

Re: 1930's Crane Neuvogue Bathroom Sink by Henry Dreyfuss
Does anyone know anymore (other than whats online already) about this sink and it's value. Did the flat bar stand come first or later. Been offered anywhere from 600.00 to 2500.00 for it, what should I settle for if I decide to sell. Auction or private sell? Any expert advice is appreciated. Thanks Eric
