According to what research I could do I have found that this set dates back to somewhere between 1929 - 1935. Does anyone have any idea what it's worth? It has one captain's chair and three regular chairs. A five foot table with three leaves that extend it out to 8 feet. And a five foot piece of removable glass to cover the table top. It has been stained at some point (underneath the table/leaves show where it was not done properly) and I don't think this is the original upholstery. Does that effect it's value? If I were to paint or refinish it to something other than it's original finish would that effect it's value? I'm new to this and do not want to compromise the integrity of the piece. Any help would be appreciated to guide me in the right direction. Thanks!

Re: 1929 - 1935 Berkey & Gay Dining Room Table & Chairs
Sets like this were mass produced, if the finish is in poor condition, refinishing it properly or the seats having new upholstery will not lower its value. That said, the demand for sets like this peaked in the late 1980's and has been in decline ever since. Currently comparable sets with their original finish in very good condition often sell at auction in the $275.00- $425.00 range.
