Wood fabric block printing had originated way before the birth of Christ. It was a slow process used to transfer the medium onto fabric. This piece has what I believe as an Indian style. These blocks have been used all over the world. There are still pieces like these produced today.Ā

Sorry the 3 holes in the back is where the handle was originally mounted ...This probably ran the length of the block to apply even pressure when doing the transfer. I forgot to state this earlier. Warmest Regards TJG
