This beautiful and very rare antique salad plate is from the yacht "Victoria", (identified by Lloyd's Register of American Yachts in 1917), which was owned by Arthur Meeker . Arthur Meeker was a millionaire and also Vice President of the Armour & Company meatpacking plant in Chicago, Illinois in the early 1900s.Â
The plate measures almost 9" in diameter. At the top are the burgees of the New York Yacht Club - on the left, and Meeker's Victoria, on the right. The back of the plate is stamped "James M. Shaw & Co., New York, 1920, 8", and also "O.P. Co., Syracuse China" (Onondaga Pottery Company). There is a gold and burgundy band around the top edge of the plate, and a thin gold band nearer the center. Â
Overall nice condition for its age, with no chips. Some utensil wear and fading here and there of the bands around the plate edges.Â
I'm trying to get a value on this plate. I cannot find any website or person that has a piece of this china besides me! Thank you.
