This is an olde tyme primitive storage cabinet. Maybe be tobacco, spice, or apothecary? It is is fair condition. The front corner has been cut off to allow for a door to swing (part of it's story). It is missing a back plank. The drawers do work. It appears to be a handmade primitive cabinet. I have shown all markings/stamps. Each drawer is marked in the same fashion. I don't know if it was used to store tobacco or if it was made out of tobacco crates. I wish I knew the whole story of this piece but it lost with my in-laws. I see these on ebay that are dated but I am not sure how they date them? I started researching the stamp info on the box drawers. It seems that the American Tobacco Co. was started in 1890. The Louisville plant in the 1920s. Gold Rope brand is noted in the 1920s also. However, I did not find if it was ever sold in the wooden crate boxes. I hope you can help.
