"Helping collectors find out what their item is and what it's worth..."
Need Help
I know very little about antique furniture and I need to see the worth of a sideboard, table, chest of drawers and vanity that I may need to sell quickly. I have posted them but no one has answered with any advice. If anyone has knowledge of furniture could you please help me?
Thank you!
I agree with everyone else having trouble. This site stinks as far as trying to get an appraisal. I submitted mine around a MONTH ago and absolutely NO response at all. Very misleading......why advertise if you don't deliver??? The name of this site is "InstaAppraisal" yet there's nothing "Instant" about it!! Does anyone know about Royal Dux pieces? I have a piece that I'm not exactly sure if it is a Royal Dux or not. There are some numbers on the bottom of the piece and "made in Australia" is stamped in it but not much other than that.
Hello. I've put in my pics, previewed page, all was fine. Now it's 2 days later, I come back to check, and I go to the box on the right and enter fine art--it says no search results-keep trying-same luck. I go below where it says extended search or whatever, it shows other things-but not my page-so I've no clue if anyone has responded. How in the world do I get to my page that is posted to find out if anyone has replied please? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Thanks for the quick response on the other piece of art. Could you also help me out with this painting?....
The title of it is MOTHER O' MINE and it is signed in ther bottom right hand corner by an artist by the name of FRANCIS D. I don't know a lot about the painting. It is on a paper like material, but it is very soft and kinda thin. It is a picture of a woman cradle a young child. I don't know if it is a reproduction, but there are no reproduction markings on it, but there are also no numbers for multiple paintings on it either. I do know it isn't in its origional frame. The elderly lady I bought it from had reframed it. I have tried searching for both the artist and the art piece on the internet, and I cannot find either one. Does anyone have a clue as to whether this may be an origional piece or not, and approx. how old this painting my be, and what its value is? Thank you..
As I've said many times on this forum, when it comes to art you really have to get it physically examined by an appraiser. From images it is almost impossible to determine if what you have is a watercolor, lithograph or part of an old calendar. I would suggest contacting the ASA ( American Society of Appraisers) http://www.appraisers.org/

This is the kind of thing one made in "Shop" or grade ten Art Classes at highschool and gave to Mom, Dad or Granny. Very few predate the 1950's and values for them are largely sentimental to the owner.

I have this vintage copper relief style piece of artwork, I have been trying to get some information on. it doesn't have an artist name or marking on it just a message: To Joan Bricker hand written in cursave pencil on the back of the wooden plaque it is nailed to. If anyone might know approx. how old it might be and what it is worth, I would be very interested to find out..Thank you.
I'm an Expert when it comes to J&H furniture ;~). Post the images and I'll tell you what you have.

Hello Wildeuce14,
I'll be happy to help you. What exactly do you need help with? If you are wondering how to get your item appraised you simply do the following:
1) Enter your item that you'd like the appraisal of by clicking on "Get a Free Appraisal"
2) Check back until your appraisal request has been answered.
We have professional appraisers who peruse through all of the appraisal requests each day, but due to the number submitted it can take some time to complete. Also, the time to complete depends on what your item is and if there's an appraiser with expertise in that particular area of discipline. Instappraisal is also very much a community site - anyone can reply back to an appraisal request and give whatever information they may have. You too can do the same as well. Please let me know how else I can assist.

Hi Joseph! Just want to say thank you soooo much for the reply. I DID enter my item and have been checking back for a very long time now. When I go in it WILL take me to the pics I submitted , however, if I try to go anywhere else, such as even looking to find the info I submitted, it tells me I am not authorized to go to this page. I followed through and did exactly as it told me to in the beginning but still am getting the same.
Thanks again very much,
Teresa
Teresa,
Can you please let me know exactly what you are clicking on that is saying you are not authorized to view? If your item is accepted for an appraisal and someone comments on it then it will be visible to you as a "comment" immediately below your item. Please send me the link, URL, button location, etc. that is giving you "not authorized."
Thanks,
Joseph
Hello Ryan,
You can subscribe to the thread and that way if someone replies then you'll receive an e-mail when there's any update to your request.
To subscribe to a request, simply check the little "Subscribe" checkbox located at the bottom of the page from which you submit your appraisal request. It is located near the bottom of the page above "Receive notification of replies or comments to this node. "

Hello,
No we are absolutely not a phoney site. We've been on the Internet almost as long as its been around (starting at CollectItNow.com in 2000 and changing our name to Instappraisal in 2002 - you are welcome to verify this on WayBackMachine.com). We are also the FIRST Internet site offering appraisals on the Internet - we used to charge for appraisals, but have found that community-supplied appraisal valuations have proven to be superior to that of a single, individual collector's opinion no matter how expert they are. Opening an appraisal up for ANYONE to comment on improves your chances for more accurate historical information and even for more accurate valuation.
Instappraisal is a community driven site where fellow collectors and appraisers alike can comment on an item that is posted for an appraisal. Having an appraisal completed depends on what the item is (if it's too unique or uncommon then there's a good chance that it may be difficult or impossible to appraise), the quality of your submission (e.g. do you have clear pictures posted, do you have detailed description posted, etc.), and that there is an appraiser or community member available that sees your request and has expertise enough to provide an answer as to the history and valuation of the item. As you can see under "Recent Comments" on the left side of every page there are a list of items that members and experts alike have commented on. If you have a particularly difficult item to appraise then it would certainly not be in anyone's best interest to try to provide sub-standard information on the history and especially valuation of the item. Instappraisal is a community-driven web site. Our members, just like you, can provide information to appraisal requests that our members have posted. I hope this answers your question. We sincerely strive to provide a helpful open site for you to learn about your antique, collectible, and art.
Sincerely,
Joseph
Now Joseph, you're fibbing ;~) I outrank you by over three years, we put our appraisals online in 1997.

Hi donnargray,
I am too looking for someone with antique furniture knowledge, when you hear of someone, will you please let me know, and I will do the same for you. I have tried to up-load my images/photos on several different occasions, onto this website, for whatever reason, I keep receiving "Server Error" messages.
Thanks!
To ginacar:
All you need to do to get to your page is go to the top of the page after you log in under ACCOUNT, click MY ACCOUNT, then scroll down to the bottom part of the page and there will be a horizontal row of tabs: click on the one that says TRACK. That should take you to any of your instappraisals.

Hi Donnagray,
I don't see a picture(s) of the pieces you are referring to...I would like to help date, wood, value of the pieces. Let me know
