I have a chest that is 24cm high and 24 cm width ,very ornate ,lock underneath the lid part,looks like a skeliton key lock.I believe it to beover a hundred years old.

Photos with close-ups help..
Look for details on construction. Maker of lock & is it a copy or real ? It is also indicator of orign country.
Check woods- types tell you where made.. Joints & finishes also give story.
Does it look to be maritimee or "old west" or Europian in origin ?
A museum in that specialty area might look at it for you.
