Accurate Description of Item
One Pair of 20th Century Louis XV Style Arm Chairs
Appraiser Remarks
The Louis XV furniture style has been extremely popular and never really out of production for very long. It's been reproduced during the turn of the 19th Century, the 1930's and again in the 1960's. The best pieces were made in Europe, but furniture of this style was also produced by nearly every major North American furniture manufacturer.
The style has most recently been revived as " French Country" and is still in production as French Provincial. Your pair appears to be of European manufacture dating from the second quarter of the 20th Century. The European examples differ from the North American varieties in that they still hand built such pieces using the same construction techniques such as hand carving. We'd retail a comparable pair in the $600.00- $800.00 range.
