History

Not sure, I picked these up at a estate sale, they were in a box all the way in the bottom. I thought at first they were salt and pepper shakers, but they have a little hanging metal loop on the top. So maybe there is more to them then just salt and pepper shakers. The tops do screw off and they are just really odd looking. The glass is a light brown with raised bumps.

Description

Please help me figure out what these things are!!! Salt and Pepper shakers? but then why would they be hung? I have searched online and can not find anything like them. They look like bugs or owls

History

I'm not too sure about these items' history. I can tell you that my husband and I found them mixed in with his grandfather's things and thought they may have some value.

Description

These are three very old campaign buttons. I've researched them a bit online and I've narrowed down the time frame to 1900-1920. This may not be very accurate. We found these items in my husbands' grandfather's belongings. They represent campaigns for McKinley/Roosevelt, T. Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. The McKinley/Roosevelt button has a couple of rust looking spots on the face but, it's still readable. My husband and I are not sure if we want to sell these items or not. At the moment, we just want to see if they have a value.

This button does not have a manufactures printed backing paper but, it's evident that it was there originally.
This one is 1" in diameter.
This is the back of the Roosevelt button manufacturer is F.F. Pulver Co.
I found none of this style on any dealer page. Made me wonder if it was rare.
This is the back of the Wilson button. Manufacturer is The Whitehead & Hoag Co.

Price Paid (If known)

Size and Dimension

roughly 4" by 4"

Weight

less than a pound

Condition

History

It was purchased by my grandmother in the early 70's or late 60's, I'm not sure whether she purchased it in Europe or America (either is entirely possible)

Description

A Jasper Blue Wedgwood Ashtray, found among my mother's things when she was moving recently.  Mom believes that it was purchased by my grandmother during the late 1960's or early 1970's, but she's unsure whether grandma purchased it in Europe or America.  Because Grandma is from Norway, it could have been easily purchased there.

The ashtray features a white bas relief design in the middle of three Grecian women and a pegasus, the rest of the ashtray is unadorned.

I've searched the web for other ashtrays that look the same, but I haven't found any that were identical.  I found several similar with the three dancing muses design and one with the pegasus design that was much larger and had white adornment around the edge.

I'm not sure if this means that the ashtray is so common that no one bothers to post pictures of it, or if it's something unusual.

I apologize for the poor quality of the photos, I'm not much of a photographer. Smiling

It has a "JAPAN" stamp under it's belly and below that is a number, too difficult to see full number

Date Made

at least about 20 years old

Price Paid (If known)

Once again i paid a $1 for this item at a tag sale

Size and Dimension

Approx 8 or 9" in length, about 1.5" wide across the torso and approx 4" tall

Weight

maybe about 6 or 7 oz

Condition

Good

History

Description

Ok, I know this pretty Tiger is at least about 20 years old because I'm 36 and i had the EXACT same tiger when i was about 13 or so. I know when I had it, there was a gold colored chain attached to the loop on it's neck that was also attached to two little cubs on each side. This particular tiger is, of course, a white tiger. It has black stripes and has very little lines randomly painted throughout in what appears to be real gold paint. High gloss finished. It may be hand painted, but in high volume and possibly with many replications. This tiger has the loop on it's neck, however, the cubs are missing so other than the missing cubs, this tiger is in excellent condition. The word "JAPAN" is stamped on the belly along with a number below it, though not readable. I'm sure there has to be someone out there who has seen this beautiful tiger before, if not alone, then with cubs. I'd like to know more of it's history and approximate value.

Thank you

Size and Dimension

approx 2" in height, about 1.5" in depth and approx 1" wide

Weight

Condition

Excellent

History

Description

Just as the patchwork cat i've entered previously, I bought this one along with it at a tag sale for $1. I believe it may be pretty old. I think it's porcelain or china, but again, i'm not sure. It looks like a little tabby cat, white underbelly, fading into a tan color on it's back, with black stripes and blackened ear tips. Face looks individual, possibly hand painted. There are absolutely no markings, symbols, signatures or stamps on it. Again, the photos are enclosed, however, the quality is not the greatest but it gives you somewhat of an idea. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this little cat, some history or value? Any comments appreciated on both.

Thank you

I'd guess about a pound in weight

Condition

History

Description

This item is really a mystery to me because i have NO idea what it's made out of. To me it looks kinda like patches of real cloth decoupaged onto a cat, covered with a crackled glaze. The cloth patches have blue and white designs of hearts and flowers. The face appears to be handpainted. It's a pretty heavy cat but not really heavy enough to consider the possiblity of it being made from cast iron. The bottom is covered with a green felt so i'm unable to see what it's made out of from the bottom. There are no signatures, stamps or symbols, nothing. The woman at the tag sale told me that it could possibly be about 50-60 years old, she wasn't too sure either. Can someone please tell me about this pretty cat and if there could possibly be any value to it? I've enclosed pictures, however, i know the photo quality isn't the best but it gives you an idea of what it looks like. Thank you.

History

Given to family member, from someone who came over from Greece. We believe the box was made in celebration of the Greek independance. On the back is a cross with a bow and spear.

Description

Appears to be a silver plate of St. George(the front) and was made into a box,

welded to another box to make it the way it looks now. A handle is on each side. One person

suggested it may have been a tea box.  My husbands father who was greek, always told him there was a piece of Christs cross in the box. however, the box was opened to find two byzantine coins.

What a surprise. Any help on this would be appreciated.
