The vanity has a matching chest of drawers and a headboard to match. The headboard had footboard and wooden rails but, unfortunately, those didn't last all these years. the headboard measures an old fashion double bed. I have a full bed and it is too long and it didn't fit my queen bed either. My mother gave these to me 5 years ago. They were given to her 30+ years ago. They were given to her be her grandfather who lived in southern Georgia. We don't know where or how he came by them. the dresser an headboard also have dame inlay and design. It is 44 inches in length x 18 inches in depth x 68 inches from bottom of feet to top of mirror.

History

This set has been in the family for many years and was reupholstered around 1978

Description

This loveseat / settee has a matching chair with arms and one without. These were my Mississippi grandparents' pieces, and I suspect they belonged to my great-grandmother, made by her family's furniture company in the late 19th century.  They were reupholstered around 1978.  There are no identifying labels or markings. The loveseat and gentleman's chair are in very good condition structurally and in their coverings. The ladies chair (the one without arms) has some spattered spots on the seat, and the frame seems a bit loose with some crackling in the finish of one of the carved wooden sides.  The wood carving looks hand done, not machine made.

I have tried to research 'Acme Chests' red cedar, trademark Niles, Michigan which is on a metal tag on the inside of the lid, to no avail. History

Was shipped to the states via the ocean in the 50's during the Korean War. AGE: ???????

Description

I have in my possession, something very unique...one of a kind and I am told by many antique experts, VERY valuable.
I will tell you the story as I know it.
A family here in Michigan owned it, the woman's great uncle was in the Korean War ( around the1950's ). Fell in love and married a Korean woman. ( not known at this time the maiden name ). As her wedding dowery, she was given these magnificent pieces of furniture, handed down through generations in her family. The couple had it crated and shipped to the United States after the war. The woman I obtained these from said she had inherited it and it had been in her family for about 20 years after the couple passed away.
The Cabinet is MASSIVE, measuring over 8 feet wide by 77" tall and about two feet deep. I have never seen so much Mother of Pearl and abalone inlay in my LIFE as these pieces have. I have been told these were created somewhere in the 18th century. That is pretty much all I know about the pieces.
The pictures really do NOT do them justice! It is spectacular!!
The original mirror in the Vanity was broken years ago but I am having it replaced as we speak. This is a MATCHING set! The two pieces were verified as coming from the same artist. These would need to be in a good sized Master Bedroom and it would look incredible!
