Long Description and Pictures (jpg, gif, png):

This is a sideboard or dresser made by Berkey and Gay, in a Gothic style. I believe based on the color and the grain patter that it is mahogany. There is a branded wood label in the side of the top drawer which makes me think it it was made around 1900 or earlier. The piece has a long wood drawer on top and a door on each side. Underneath the top drawer are 2 smaller drawers, and underneath those is a 2-door cabinet. All openings lock and have brass keyholes, and the original key is included (brass?). There is a shelf behind each door opening. The piece has claw feet in front and 2 castors on the legs in back. There is a large splat on the back of the piece, about 7" high that attaches to the top of the buffet with wooden dowels. There may have been some damage to the finish, since it has started crackling across the face and on the top. It is massive and took 3 poeple to move.
