Accurate Description of Item
One Federal Revival Style Side Table, with John Stuart Inc New York/ Grand Rapids label . Stamped "1930".
Appraiser Remarks
Based on what I can see what you have is a reproduction of an American Federal style side table, the type today being generally referred to as "Federal Revival" in North America.
The Federal Revival style first became popular on the run up to the Centennial of the American War of Independence in 1876, the demand for original early American pieces exceeding supply furniture makers of the period began producing reproductions. Furniture of this type was made right through the 1930's and is now old enough to be considered Antique by the passage of time.
The numerical marking on the back of this piece "1930" may not actually be the date, it's more likely a model/style number. The Grand Rapids city directories we have on file list that the company operated from 1934-1956, with a company showroom in Grand Rapids from 1948 through 1956. They sold mainly higher end pieces in for the Georgian, American, and French Revival styles. as well as Modern residential furniture.
