Accurate Description of Item
Pewter Plate
Appraiser Remarks
Based on what I can see from the images this would appear to be a early 19th Century Pewter plate, but would require a physical appraisal as pieces like this have been reproduced since the 1950's.
Pewter historically was an alloy of tin and lead (up to 50% lead). It became popular in kitchen ware such as plates, mugs, and utensils, the higher quality the pewter the lower its lead content.
Pewter makers, like silversmiths used a variety of stamps to mark their wares, but unlike the production of silver, which was highly regulated in most countries, many pewter maker's markings went unrecorded, we have no listing for this mark. If this piece actually is an example of a early 19th Century pewter by an unknown maker, its value would be in the $80.00- $125.00 range, as a reproduction, about $35.00
