One Turn of the 19th Century Art Nouveau Inkwell
Appraiser Remarks
Based on the "Art Nouveau" style design of the lid, your inkwell dates from the turn of the 19th Century. The lids on these are generally Sterling silver or silverplated, if they are Sterling they will have a series of stamped "hallmarks" on them to indicate the silver content, maker and date. Some are simply stamped "Sterling" or "925", the numerical equivalent of Sterling silver. If there are no markings the lid is nearly always silverplated.
