I refinished one very similar and gave it to my daughter in law a few years back. A trunk refinishing book had one for sale with a price tag of $1200. i don't know if they ever got that for it, but that's what they were asking. Your's looks very nice. Good Luck!!
That is the nicest trunk I've ever seen. Â Have no idea of the value. Â I see lots of trunks go for very little money here in Texas. Â But none are nowhere near that nice. Â Most are flat tops that people make coffee tables out of. Â Good luck!
Hump top trunks were mass produced items and are not considered rare or very valuable. This one is in exceptional shape though compared to most. We'd have trouble finding a buyer willing to pay more than about $350.00 for a trunk of this type, at auction we see good ones sell all the time for under $150.00.
Re: steamer trunk

Re: steamer trunk
"Hump Top" trunks like this tend to date from the 1870's through the 1890's.
