I have an etching that is titled "A Shady Nook". It has a signature , in pencil, "Painted by A.T. Bricher" Â Underneath that, in what looks a typeface it is signed, " Etched by Frank A Bicknell".
On the opposite corner, it has "Painted by A T Bricher" in the same typeface as the other side. Â Now on the upper left corner, it has "Copyright 1888 by Fisher, Aler & Schwartz, New York". This is in tiny script, and appears to be in pencil. There is nothing that indicatrres it is part of a numbered set.Â
It came in a wooden frame with a metal decorative edge around the wood and another metal piece next to the glass. I forgot what that is called. This is a large art piece. It measures approx 20 1/2" x 38 3/8", edge to edge. There is a border of approx 3" all around. Â It is on what feels like heavy cardstock.Â
There is some damage from age and looks like moisture. There was hsome heavy wood panels holding it in from the backside. You can see where these boards have stained the art in places.Â
I am trying to determine if this has any value. It is really beautiful, the work i s amazing! The frame has some chips out of the wood, but is still pretty. Very heavy.Â
Any help will be greatly appreciated.Â
Sincerely,
T Hanley
Re: A Shady Nook etching Correction
I made a mistake in my listing. The first signature should only have " A Bricher", in pencil, on right corner, on the art itself. I mistakenly stated it as "Painted by A Bricher". That is on the opposite corner. There are too many signatures, confusing!
Also, for some crazy reason, all my photos show upside down! They didn't look thatt way i previw.
Thanks
