Long Description
This beautiful petite secretary's desk is of carved wood with a newer leather-inset desktop, and original glass door for the display case. There is an open display area on top of the desk as well. The desktop lifts to reveal the storage space underneath. I have never owned the key.
This desk has been very loved and well cared-for, and had a repair to one of the support legs some time ago.
History
My mother bought this sweet desk about 45 years ago. I have owned it with love for about 20 years, but have moved into a smaller home and sadly don't have any room for it.

Re: Antique Eastlake petite secretary's desk
Based on your images this is a late 19th Century "Bonheur du jour" desk in the Eastlake style, which was popular from about 1870- 1890 Century. These small desks first became very fashionable with the ladies about 1760, the name "Bonheur du jour"
translates to " Joy of the Day", another term for "Fashionable".
In the current market these desks are quiet popular with values varying widely depending on quality of construction and
condition. In today's market comparable desks to yours would have replacement value in the $500.00- $700.00 range.
