approx 10cm diameter at base
My father purchased this vase in the late 70's or mayby the early 80's from an antiques dealer. I don't know much else about it, except that my father once mentionedĀ it was" rather old" and that he had "paid a lot for it".
Anyhow, he apparently really valued this object -Ā notably since it's one of the many asian vases we had at home that was not eventually converted into a lamp stand (My father was a professional lighting designer but also made unique custom lamps for friends and family)
After my father passed away last year I received the vase but I'm not certain I really want to keep it. It is slightly chipped along the upper lip with a small crack running down from the chip, but otherwise it is in rather good condition
I'd like to learn more about it, figure out it's origins, know its worth, etc.before deciding to keep it or sell it.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi there, and thanks for the reply.
It doesn't seem that I can add photos directly to this thread so I will update my original post with some photos of the base.
Re: 19th century Chinese vase depicting scholars: Blue on...
i saw a 60 cm vase with the same kind of figures go for 500 euro's at a local auction.
this vase will be devalued because of the chip and the hairline. Might still fetch around a 100 to 200 dollar
Re: 19th century Chinese vase depicting scholars: Blue on...
I can tellĀ thisĀ is a handpainted and hand thrown vase. The painting is good qualityĀ as is the vase itself. It was probably made around theĀ mid 20th C and may beĀ even older. I think it's worth a professional appraisal and think it may come in around $800Ā or more because it is all done by hand and done very nicely.
