Appraiser Remarks
"Throne Chairs" like these tend to date from the last quarter of the 19th Century, quite often custom made for use in Fraternal Orders ( Men's Lodges) Board rooms or Churches. Their decoration is often a combination of machine and hand carving and they tend to be a mix of Baroque and Renaissance Revival styles, which were very popular during this period. Most were either walnut or mahogany, this one appears to be mahogany. Values for them depend a great deal on the quality of the carving, maker and provenance, but most like this one by unknown makers often sell for less than $1500.00
