Accurate Description of Item
One Turn of the 19th Century Repousse Silver Bowl.
Appraiser Remarks
As a general rule by International conventions most items made of precious metals such as silver, and gold will bear markings to indicate their silver content, either with a series of stamps or a number such as "925" ( 92.5% silver) or "800" (80% silver)
Silverplate will show a positive test for silver if you apply acid directly on to it. You must make a scratch in the piece so you are below the plating before you can apply your acid. I'd suggest testing this piece again with a good scratch on the base, if it's silver it's worth about what you paid for it, if it's silverplated it's only worth about $10.00. The values below are for a Sterling silver example.
