This is a painting purchased in Los Altos, CA in a estate sale in 1999 for $50 (as we recall). Its nicely framed and has a light that perhaps came with the frame. However, the painting is slightly damaged - one crack above the mountain which has been fixed by someone and the other is not fixed. Both these points are shown in the photo. The condition could be Good or Fair or even Poor depending upon the choice.

I know very little about the piece, except that it is made of solid pine wood.

The top has been recently sanded down.

I have included a picture of the nails, if that is of any help.

I would like as much information as possible that can be deduced from the photographs.

1915 Croutch & Fitzgerald flat top leather covered trunk.

Purchased it at a garage sale years ago.

as to the best of my knowledge the trunk is from around 1915 made by the Crouch & Fitzgerald company in New York City. I have read that hey were thee most top quality trunk made in the USA at the time, up there with louis vuitton. the trunk has no visible wood that i can see, the slats are either solid leather or covered. The corners are of very thick 1/4" leather . the decorative metal on the corners looks to be steel? the lock and keeper look to be brass. there is no key to this trunk. the interior is in good shape covered in a tan canvas like material. all of the hardware including hinges is in great shape, the hasps are very strong, not much use.
