Medium - What is the item made out of (e.g. "silver")?:
solid dark wood - not sure of exact type... maybe mahoghany
Distinguishing marks or signature (e.g. artist's name, silver hallmark):
nothing whatsoever...but it is definitely very old (kind of resembles a piece from the 1930's)
Date Period (Estimated date of item if known):
Size and dimensions of this item:
approximately 5ft tall and 2.5 feet wide... refer to picture... i am just looking to determine actual size. did not measure
Weight:
heavy - takes 2 strong people to lift, but the chest is on wheels, so its easier to position
History:
I found it at a thrift store. Don't know nothing about it, just that it is very odd.. and old. Not to mention, it is in perfect condition! Not a dent, scratch, or anything wrong with it!
Long Description and Pictures (jpg, gif, png):
I was thinking it could be any of the following: gentlemens chest, secretaire, drop front desk secretary. It looks like it is very old, but similar to another piece I own from the 1930's, but the way the wood grain looks ... it looks similiar to a victorian dresser I have from 1904. Anything would help at this point. I would love to know the history, or just help identifying this item. Possible value is always cool to know... but anything at all would help! Thanks everyone!
