Long Description:

This is a beautiful hand painted porcelain vase or urn. The base is white and has a raised design. One side is floral and the other side is a painting by Boucher(z?) (not sure of authenticity of signature) of a colonial couple, a woman feeding a man grapes. The bottom and top have a gilded design and both handles are also gilded with a design of circles. the piece stands 7.25" tall and 5" wide including the handles. The bottom has gold numbers 184 and a blue mark of double intersecting x's. Research of the mark has been somewhat difficult but resembles that of Chauveaux though I am not 100% sure its exactly the same since I am looking online. The piece has not chips, cracks or repairs but has some wear that can be expected from a vintage or antique item. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Long Description:

This armoire was given to me by a friend who purchased it from an antiques dealer.  The dealer told him that the piece was 18th century Austrian.  I do not know what my friend paid for it--but because he is an interior designer my guess is that he bought it based more on aesthetics than on a desire to invest in antiques.
The wood has been worm eaten and there are obvious condition issues as you will see in the pictures.  Among them: A hole has been drilled in the back in order for the armoire to function as an entertainment center (I'm guessing).  A series of numbers has been written on the inside in black marker and there looks to be some sort of identifying information on the back as well.  The large dovetail joinery holding the upper left cornice in place has given way so the cornice is now being held in place by mending plates.  Missing from the pictures is a notched divider and a hanging rod (both made of the same pine).
It's a great-looking piece but, as previously stated, has obvious issues.
