From the 1930s, this beautiful ceramic figure with characteristic deep green glaze was made by Jerry Rosse. Â The Rosse family are now third generation potters in TN; their website jtpotteryusa.com tells the history of Jerry Rosse with representative work. Â
This piece is in pristine condition with "Rosse N.Y.C." Incised on the base with markings on the bottom edge, possibly a manufacturer cr/99Y-
I found it in a Antiques and Collectibles store. Â The owner did not have any information on it and I paid just a few dollars.
I would love to learn of any other similar pieces and the current value. Â This piece is a wonderful example of the arts and crafts movement and is even more special since the family is still in business. Â
I look forward to any comments or questions. Â Thank you for taking the time to review this post.
