I own two beautiful handcrafted copper mirrors with hammered surrounds depicting local floral, animal, and indigenous native scenery that were purchased 50 years ago in what was then the country of Rhodesia in Africa (now known as Zimbabwe). I was a pre-teen and my parents were Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Missionaries on assignment to the Trans-Africa Division and lived in Salisbury at the time, although I spent some time in Bulawayo attending an SDA boarding school. These artifacts were purchased during the Colonial Period prior to the nations Independence and name change to Zimbabwe (I was there before, during, and after the event).
