Hi everyone,
I was at a consignment shop today with my sister when I found a lovely antique teacup. However, I need help as this is incredibly confusing. It's a beautiful floral cup and saucer with raised gold on incredibly thin china. Just holding it I feel like it will shatter in my hands. The pieces are both marked on the bottom as "Rosenthal/Rosenthale (I can't quite tell) Selb-Germany U.S. Zone" with the teacup also being marked "WINIFRED" in all caps. I would certainly think that was more than enough to go off of but hours on Google and I can't even find a picture of this design. The tag said it was an "Antique 1930's teacup". However looking at the collectors site I can't find this exact seal that mentions America anywhere, much less the fact that the design is not recorded. Even more shocking is that what I am assuming is the design name of "Winifred" is actually used in a DIFFERENT design on that site. So what exactly do I have?? If it is a knock off it is a very very good one that is intricate and delicate and must have taken a good bit of effort. I will attach photos for reference. I hope someone can be of help. The last image has the clearest makers mark, which can be seen on the plate. The saucer doesn't bear the name "Winifred", but the mark on the teacup is worn away slightly.
