What an absolutely beautiful stove! I think your stove may possibly be from the late '30s and not from the '40's, though I'm not 100% on that. Do you have a serial number or model number anywhere on the stove? Near the turn of the century Detroit built around 400,000 stoves and made even $10,000,000 at peak and typically used kerosene for burning material. I've seen them sell anywhere from $50.00 to $800.00 depending on condition and finding the right buyer of course. Your stove looks to be in particularly excellent condition and I could see it selling in the upper price range, probably anywhere from $500-750 with the right buyer.
