Long Description
We found this painting at my aunt's house. She said it was my grandfather's who received it from a convent that he did work in approximately 70 years ago (he died in 1970). The painting is not in the best of shape but you can clearly see Fred Pansing's name in the lower left corner and you can see brush stokes which makes me belive it is not a copy. The painting is approx. 4.5 to 5ft. long and 2-3 ft. wide. In the painting there are 3 steamers and the first steamer which is clostest in the picture has an american flag and a blue flag with white stars flying on it.

Re: fred Pansing oil painting
If this had been kept in better condition over its lifetime the value would have been $400-1000 at auction in today's market. Considering it's current condtion, which is very rough, you're looking at around $75-125. It's a shame about the damage.
Re: fred Pansing oil painting
have to be careful in determining if it is an original oil, some of the painters or distriutors would use a textured cardboard underneath to make the item look original. if you look very closely you can tell. Most of the faux strokes repeat itself. A couple of his lithos just sold for $300 and 400 apiece so all is not lost. Good day.
