Long Description
I picked these two unusual double sided dog heads up at a combination antique/thrift store.  I paid $6 each.  The seller didn't know what they were and thought maybe book ends.  What little information I have found makes me think they're from the late 1800's or early 1900's.  I think they might be Staffordshire ceramic.  They seem hand made as they vary slightly in size.  I'm thinking maybe they were used for cigar advertisement or tobacco.  There are other double sided dogs on the Internet where the hats come off and they call them tobacco jars but these hats do not seem to come off and I'm not sure if made for same purpose.  I'd like to know a value and what the purpose was for this item.Sent from my iPhone
