I need a Kay Finch Expert. Â Ok I found these two MINT boy and girl choir kids, signed on the bottom "Kay" and the date 1969. Â Now it is common knowledge that Kay Finch stopped making figurines in 1964, however this is a myth, and I found a book that is a biography and identification book on Kay Finch and her work, and it clearly states that she continued to produce pieces, but on a much smaller scale. Â Some pieces were one of a kind or very limmited pieces, 10 or less. Â I suspect this may be a piece created for a close friend or family member, and that is why she doesn't write her full name. Â In the book, it states that for one of her rare pieces that she gifted, she marked the peice with only her first name, very similar to the way it looks on these pieces. Â The colors are brighter then she is known for, but in her later years, she became more detailed and created more lively colorful pieces. Â If this is one of her pieces, it isn't documented in the book, and I haven't found any record of the pieces. The book also shows different ways she wrote and signed her pieces, and this looks just like one of the rarer pieces she signed. Â If it's not her, who else could it be? They are both very unique looking for her peices, which I think merits them more valuable, and they are in Excellent/Mint condition, obviously well cared for and valued through the years. Â Thank you for your time. The book I am referencing is,Â

I am not an expert on any Kay Fench's at all. but what I am good at is finding things and finding out if they are fake or real. I spend many hours looking for anything that will tell me what it is, I posted the link to Esty to show you a style of pottery used to make the Figurines that you have. Also I have looked at so many bottoms and signatures of Kay's I close my eyes and see the marks now, (humor). All of the Kay's marks I can find, none of them looks like yours. The Ks are all diff. the numbers are all diff. 1973 she was very fancy. she used CAPS (KAY) long Ys. letters always tilted  the  a's and y's.  were always close to each other. not like yours.. also the mold used on yours has a very large hole. (like the ones in the link) all of Kay's were small holes.. most potters use the same molds for ever.. last thing Kay liked to say who she is and where she is from. for her to make something with just her first name only? I don't think so.. as an artest If I am proud of my works I going to tell people "LOOK at me I made this"Â
with that said, I don't thinks these are Key Fenach made. but someone making figurines in the 60'sÂ
Good Luck! these should still sell pretty good.. Â Let me know if you find out something Diff. Thanks.
Re: Choir Boy and Girl, Rare, one of a kind KAY FINCH pieces?...
I forgot to mention one more thing, I don't think these two were made as a matching pair either, the paint on the lips are diff. color the bottom of the pair is also diff. if they were painted as a pair the same paint color would have been used... they also would have been fired at the same time, they didn't paint the bottom of the male?Â
