We collect both Columbian Exposition and Century of Progress items. The photos are of a Columbian exposition Borad of Lady Managers Diploma of Honorable Mention. It is framed.
It reads:
The Board of Lady Managers of the World's Columbian Commission by virtue of the authority vested in by an Act of Congress of the United States of America confers this Diploma of Honorable Mention upon Peter Nelson a certificate having been filed with said Board stating that by his skill as an Expert Artisan he assisted in the production and perfection of the exhibit of Shabbona Creamery, Illinois, which was awarded a Medal and Diploma at the World's Columbian Exposition. Witness our hands and seal this 18th day of June 1894.Â
Signed Virginia Meredith, Chairman of the Committee on Awards, Bertha Honore Palmer, President of the Board of Lady Managers, and Geo R. Davis, Director of the Columbian Exposition.
It also has an embossed seal and underneath notes Western Bank Note Company.
It is stained, but is framed, so cannot see any additional damage.
We would love to know more about it's value!
