Bought this at a garage sale, so I don't know the history, but the original owner had a lot of nice things she was selling so I hope this has some value. I found an old price tag on the box that shows someone tries to sell it for $88 at one time, but I don't know when.
This is a tea set in a box with asian writing on it -not sure if it's Chinese or Japanese. In the other side of the box top is clear plastic so I don't think this set is an antique.
The tea set is mostly made of brownish metal, I assume it is cast iron. There are 6 cups and saucers, one base, and 2 types of kettles. All pieces are miniature in size. Condition is very nice except a small chip in one of the cups.
One kettle has etched Asian art showing trees, houses, stairs, etc. On the bottom is additional art showing trees, mountains, and two people sitting. There is also some writing in the mountain. It also has a top with some writing on it.
The other does not have any significant attributes, it looks fairly basic except it also has some writing on the bottom. However it has no handle and a short spout, so maybe it's not for tea? It also has a top.
The cups have porcelain on the inside of them, and the saucers are fairly simple. The heating stand has 9 holes in the middle and a larger hole on in the corner. The other 3 corners have an etching that almost looks like a Chinese dragon, but it might be some other type of design.
