Wood. I believe oak or redwood. Brass hardware (not particularly fancy) and glass door-knobs. I had a hardware appraiser offer $5 for one set of doorknobs, $20 for another set, she said different quality. I don't remember why but she said one set was better than the other.
Distinguishing marks
Just old, quality doors. I think they're oak or redwood like the rest of the house which was built in 1913. There are minor scratches and a couple of scuffs but not much given the age.
Condition
Good
Date Period
1900-1913
Size and dimensions of this item
Unsure. I'm 6'1 and walk through them comfortably.
Weight
Not sure. They are heavy. One male can carry them but w/ some effort.
Long Description
I have two doors from a 1913 house from the Historic West Adams District in Los Angeles. I believe they are oak or redwood. They have a dark finish, are in good condition with nicks and scratches minimal, a couple of scuffs visible but not much, especially given the age. I have them in storage and have not had a chance to take specific measurements but I have these pictures that give an idea of the dimensions. I'm 6'1 and walk through them comfortably. They have the full brass hardware (brackets, knob-lock) and the door knobs are glass. I've been told by a hardware dealer that one door has $20 glass knobs, the other has $5. I don't remember why but one set of glass knobs was better than the other.
History
These doors were from a 1913 Victorian in the Historic West Adams district of Los Angeles. House was purchased in 1980 by selling owner, everything original was left alone, including the woodwork, doors, brass etc.
