Hi, to whom it may concern.
the item I'm wanting more info on is a pair of ladies Heels/shoes. The shoes  have a brown leather sole with top stitching on the sides and a marked stamped in the center of the sole that reads "39". The heel is a 1 1/2 inch wooden heel and painted brown to match leather sole it to has leather tacked to the heel base. The shoe itself is of dark grape/purple velvet with leather insoles of what looks to be of a tan color (now aged). The front of the shoe has a gold pattern embroidered on it in a flower motif. The gold thread is dulled and aged but is stitched over paper to give the velvet fabric support from underneath the stitches. There are no labels or marks or stamps, just only the "39" spoken earlier. Same embroidered pattern on both heels.Â
I am wondering what time period they were made, where they were made, and if they are worth anything?.
thank you
Re: Antique ladies shoes/heels
Hi The shoes are a strange mixture of old Turkish gold embroidery and a new made leather heal and sole. I can not say what they are worth. If they were real ottoman shoes they could be worth 100$ . They are very well kept and nice looking!  It is  possible in Istanbul to find pieces of an old Bindalli (Embroidered Wedding dress) There was a tradition when Turkish women died to cut up their wedding dress into small pieces. You can find this pieces sold on Ebay and in Etsy or in Antiqueshops in Turkey. You can also get shoes handmade by a shoemaker in Turkey. I guess someone made a pair of shoes from her or his inherrited Bindalli part! Or it was made by a textile museum who wanted to make a set of shoes to their turkish costumes. But enjoy them.I would have bought them emidiatly if I saw them!!! Greetings from Pia
