History
This clock was found in the attic of a large house designed by Josef Hoffman (famous architect) in Vienna, Austria. around 1967, when we lived in Vienna. Our landlady said we could buy the clock, but not the silver chest below it. We had it completely restored by a master clock technician in Vienna who told us it was a very fine, expensive clock and that after he restored it, he knew it would work beautifully for another one hundred years. The legs were carved by hand by a master wood worker.
Price Paid (If known)
I don't know. My clock man says, if complete, with chest, it could be $10,000 to $30,000.
