I bought this table along with a matching side table at a thrift store for $40.  The gold twisted decorative motif is iron or steal (it's magnetic) and the top and legs are some sort of stone. When I bought it the finish was brown but using acetone you can see it comes right off.. Underneath was a shimmery/milky stone with deep veins.. I scratched a bit into a powder and added vinegar which made it fizz and bubble (I read to do that online to test it(.  So I'm assuming it's either marble or alabastar.  Both pieces are  extremely heavy and have no markings or verifying signatures.  The only thing I found was a "made in philippines" and "inspected f-7" sticker under the side table.  As I researched, the philippines are high manufactures of marble.  Both pieces definetly resemble french neoclassical tables.  Are they antique or vintage?  Or are they simply remakes?  could the base iron/steal be older and the stone added?  What could the value of these pieces be?Â
